Softball Recap: Canton Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Canton can now relate to. They fell just short of the Aubrey Chaparrals by a score of 6-5 on Tuesday. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Chaparrals apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Rylee Busby spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned runs on seven hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Addy Henderson was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one double. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kara Pride, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Canton moved to 24-9-2 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Aubrey, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 30-3.

While Canton had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
