Football Game Preview: Steel Valley Ironmen vs. Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Chargers

The Steel Valley Ironmen will venture away from home to take on the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Chargers at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Steel Valley's defense has only allowed 11.4 points per game this season, so Our Lady of the Sacred Heart's offense will have their work cut out for them.

Steel Valley is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Apollo Ridge just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 18-14 to the Vikings. While the Ironmen didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Vikings 7-3 in the first quarter.

Steel Valley's defeat came about despite a quality game from Da`Ron Barksdale, who rushed for 120 yards and one TD while picking up 7.1 yards per carry. Barksdale is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 109 every time he's taken the field this season. Terec Seibles got in on the action too, returning a kick for a touchdown.

Most of the squad's points came courtesy of special teams, who contributed eight in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Seibles, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Our Lady of the Sacred Heart posted their closest victory since October 25, 2024 on Friday. They slipped by South Park 14-13.

Our Lady of the Sacred Heart's win bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Steel Valley, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 4-3.

Everything came up roses for Steel Valley against Our Lady of the Sacred Heart when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 42-7 victory. In that game, the Ironmen amassed a halftime lead of 42-7, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Saturday.
