Basketball Recap: Te'anaina Rivers Key Part of a Team Effort in Panthers Win

It was a proper cat-fight when Westwood faced off against Port St. Lucie on Thursday. The Westwood Panthers came out on top against the Port St. Lucie Jaguars by a score of 36-25. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 38-34 back in November of 2024.

Westwood's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Te'Anaina Rivers, who posted eight points and five steals. That's the most steals Rivers has posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jazmyne Jones, who had nine points.

The win made it two in a row for Westwood and bumps their season record up to 9-7. As for Port St. Lucie, the defeat snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 5-6 record.

Westwood and Melbourne will face off at 7:00 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. Melbourne will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Westwood surely won't give up without a fight. Port St. Lucie has already played their next contest (against St. Edward's), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
