League recap: Zurcher throws longest pass in league this season for Ashland

Nick Zurcher and Max Stringer provided fans with a highlight when they connected against West Holmes. The connection went for 52 yards, the longest such play in Ohio Cardinal this season.

Wooster moved up to 234 from 335 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Generals climbed the ranks as a result of defeating Madison Comprehensive 48-24.

Ashland's Zurcher and Stringer led the league in both passing and receiving yards. Zurcher has thrown for 1,403 yards this season, while Stringer, a 6-foot-2 receiver, has 30 catches for 471 yards. Tyquan Vickers from Mansfield Senior leads the league in rushing with 520 yards.

The Arrows' offense has scored 175 points this season, good for No. 1 in the league, while the Tygers have allowed only 65 on the year.

One of Ohio Cardinal's premier quarterbacks will go head-to-head with its top pass rusher when Ashland and Mansfield Senior face off next week.

The Knights are currently in second, while Orrville is in third.

There should be lots of points scored when Scott Valentine's team and Chioke Bradley's team face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Arrows comes in having scored 175 this season, while the Tygers have scored 162. Ashland scored 48 points last week as it defeated West Holmes.

Adding to the longest winning streak in the league this week, Mansfield Senior beat the Red Riders 45-0. The victory was the fifth in a row for the Tygers.
