Volleyball Game Preview: Viewmont Vikings vs. Roy Royals

After both having extra time off, the Viewmont Vikings and the Roy Royals will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Viewmont will be strutting in after a win while Roy will be coming in after a defeat.

Viewmont is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Utah's top teams: Box Elder, who was ranked 17th at the time (Viewmont was ranked 16th). The Vikings came out on top against the Bees by a score of 3-1 last Thursday. The Vikings haven't had any issues with the Bees recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Viewmont had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 22-25, 25-18, 25-23, 25-21.

Meanwhile, Roy was not able to break out of their rough patch last Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 3-0 to Woods Cross.

While Roy had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 18 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-21, 25-18.

Roy's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Viewmont, their win bumped their record up to 9-5.

Viewmont took their victory against Roy when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 3-0 score. Will the Vikings repeat their success, or do the Royals have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
