Baseball Recap: Six Straight Home Wins for York

On Monday York's undefeated season almost came to an end. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 win over the Lincoln-Way Central Knights. Five seems to be a good number for the Dukes as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Jack Bodach tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Marco Giorno, who went 2-for-4 with one triple and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Owen Chael, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI.

York pushed their record up to 4-0 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 2.67 runs across that stretch. As for Lincoln-Way Central, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Looking ahead, York will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Hinsdale South at 4:30 p.m. As for Lincoln-Way Central, they will head out to take on Brother Rice at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lincoln-Way Central's pitchers better be ready for this one: Brother Rice has averaged an impressive 8.5 runs per game this season.
