Baseball Recap: Washington Wins Going Away Against Arroyo

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Washington and Arroyo, and Washington kept the tradition alive. The Washington Huskies blew past the Arroyo Dons 8-1 on Thursday. That seven run margin sets a new team best for the Huskies this season.

Hugo Marks was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Washington is undefeated when he allows at most three earned runs, but 0-4 otherwise. Marks was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

In other pitching news, Dylan Letke looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

Back at the plate, Noah Paek was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. Those hits were his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Stevens, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Washington's record now sits at 3-4. As for Arroyo, their loss was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-6.

Looking ahead, Washington will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against American at 4:00 p.m. As for Arroyo, they are taking a road trip to take on San Leandro at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
