Softball Preview: Minooka Indians vs. Yorkville Foxes

The Minooka Indians will head out on the road to face off against the Yorkville Foxes at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Minooka came tearing into Wednesday's contest with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.4 runs) and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victor by a 15-2 margin over the Lemont HS.

Marina Hristov spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits. It was the first time this season that she pitched five or more innings.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Madison Kelly, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Addisonn Crumly, who went 3-for-4 with a home run, three runs, and three RBI.

Meanwhile, Yorkville scored the most runs they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They put the hurt on West Aurora with a sharp 13-6 victory.

Minooka pushed their record up to 7-1-1 with that win, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs per game. As for Yorkville, their victory bumped their record up to 7-4.

Minooka suffered a grim 12-0 defeat to Yorkville in their previous meeting back in May of 2023. Thankfully for Minooka, Madi Reeves (who didn't allow a single earned run and only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
