Baseball Recap: Fuqua Comes Up Short

Fuqua extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 4-11 in the process. They came up short against the Brunswick Academy Vikings, falling 13-3. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Vikings this season, with their most recent defeat being a 10-1 loss back in April.

Fuqua saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Austin Morgan, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

As for Brunswick Academy, their record now sits at 11-6. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their two-run performance the contest before.

On Brunswick Academy's side, Maddox Sasser was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Sasser was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nathan Talbert, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one triple. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Nathan Wells, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Fuqua does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Brunswick Academy, they will venture away from home to square off against Southampton Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Vikings' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Raiders have averaged an impressive 10.2 runs per game this season.
