Baseball Recap: Western Hills Snaps 11-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Western Hills dropped their record down to 14-4 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's 11-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season. They lost 13-2 to Great Crossing. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Wolverines of the 13-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Western Hills saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Harlan Comer, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two runs.

As for Great Crossing, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season. 13 seems to be a good number for they as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

On Great Crossing's side, Nate Adkins made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits (and only one walk). Adkins has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with two RBI and one run. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (three).

In other batting news, Landen Walters was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Dustin Hoffman also deserves some recognition as he launched his first home run of the season.

While Western Hills had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
