Basketball Recap: Jerron Wilson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Paulding County over South Cobb

Paulding County was the 76-71 winner over South Cobb when they last played one another on January 9th, but their luck changed this time around. The Paulding County Patriots fell just short of the South Cobb Eagles by a score of 57-54 on Tuesday. The Patriots have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Several Patriots players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jerron Wilson, who posted 19 points in addition to six steals and five boards. The match was Wilson's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Sebastien Okullo was another key player, putting up eight points along with 13 rebounds and three steals.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead South Cobb to victory, but perhaps none more so than Rajah Morgan, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 boards. Morgan is becoming a predictor of South Cobb's success: when he posts at least ten rebounds the team is 9-4 (and 4-5 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Donald McMillan, who earned 17 points in addition to eight boards and four steals.

Paulding County's defeat dropped their record down to 12-10. As for South Cobb, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-9 record this season.

Paulding County will venture away from home to take on Hillgrove at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hillgrove is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63.1 points per game this season. As for South Cobb, they will be playing in front of their home fans against McEachern at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. McEachern will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something South Cobb surely won't give up without a fight.
