East Mountain takes loss despite strong efforts from Ava Podzemny and Rylee Allen

Recap: East Mountain Timberwolves vs. Cottonwood Classical Prep Coyotes

The East Mountain Timberwolves suffered their closest loss yet this season on Saturday. They fell just short of Cottonwood Classical Prep by a score of 34-31. East Mountain was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Cottonwood Classical Prep apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.

Rylee Allen and Ava Podzemny certainly did their best on Saturday to try and avoid the loss. Allen almost dropped a triple-double on 11 points, 15 rebounds, and nine blocks, while Podzemny scored nine points along with nine rebounds and five blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Bea Perea, who scored five points along with three steals.

Cottonwood Classical Prep found their leader in underclassman Adrianna Bolden, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and six steals. Bolden continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Ryah Carlson, who scored nine points along with five rebounds and five steals.

East Mountain's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Cottonwood Classical Prep, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-10.

East Mountain and Moriarty will face off at 5:30 p.m. on January 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Moriarty is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. Cottonwood Classical Prep will take on Menaul at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Menaul is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.
