Basketball Recap: Vance Charter Has No Trouble Against Falls Lake

Vance Charter's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They strolled past the Falls Lake Firebirds with points to spare, taking the game 70-52. That looming 70-52 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Knights yet this season.

Vance Charter's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Gary Wilkins led the charge by putting up 16 points. Nick Pentoney was another key player, posting 14 points.

Despite the loss, Falls Lake saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Kaleb Murphy went 6 of 10 on his way to 17 points and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Murphy has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Camden Cooke, who posted nine points.

The win got Vance Charter back to even at 3-3. As for Falls Lake, they dropped their record down to 3-6 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Vance Charter wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 67-39 victory against Roxboro Community on the 13th. As for Falls Lake, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 68-30 loss against Bunn on the 13th.
