Softball Recap: Quitman Find Success

Quitman's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They walked away with a 9-4 win over the LaPoynor Flyers.

Kori Hammond and Chloe Jones did most of the damage at the plate: Hammond went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs, while Jones went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Jones is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Elizabeth Boykin, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Quitman's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for LaPoynor, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Coming up, Quitman will challenge Winnsboro at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for LaPoynor, they will face off against Mexia at 3:35 p.m. on Saturday.
