Softball Game Preview: Troup Tigers vs. De Kalb Bears

For the second straight game, Troup will face off against De Kalb. The Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the Bears at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Troup 2.2, De Kalb 1.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Troup heads in on the heels of a playoff game on Thursday. They fell just short of De Kalb by a score of 4-3. The Tigers' loss signaled the end of their 14-game winning streak.

For De Kalb's part, Kaydee Brown made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Brown has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run and one stolen base.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on TT Ingram, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI.

De Kalb lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in March.

De Kalb is on a roll lately: they've won 19 of their last 20 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 29-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Troup, the defeat was their first on the road , dropping their record down to 26-6.

Troup's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's contest. The Tigers have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game.
