Soccer Game Preview: Central Wise vs. Abingdon

The Central Wise Warriors are taking a road trip to square off against the Abingdon Falcons at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Central Wise is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

Central Wise's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They blew past Union 11-0. Considering Central Wise have won four contests by more than six goals this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, after soaring to four goals the game before, Abingdon was a bit more limited in their match on Thursday. They fell 2-0 to Owen. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Abingdon came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' soccer rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 52nd in Virginia, while Owen are ranked 203rd in North Carolina).

Central Wise's win bumped their record up to 6-0-1. As for Abingdon, with the defeat, they broke their three-match winning streak and moved their record to 4-3.

Central Wise came out on top in a nail-biter against Abingdon when the teams last played back in May of 2025, sneaking past 2-1. Do the Warriors have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Falcons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
