In a matchup between two teams known for their explosive offenses, it was an impressive defensive stand that made the difference. No. 4 Washington (Miami) received a big sack from Devonaire Clarington to preserve a 21-20 victory over rival No. 9 Central (Miami) in our National Game of the Week.

Clarington brought down Miami Central quarterback Jerrod Thomas on third down with just a few seconds remaining.

Central was out of timeouts and, although they rushed to get the field goal unit on the field, time expired to give Booker T. Washington its third victory over Central in the last four years.

Booker T. Washington was in control for most of the game. Following a long catch by Antonio Calloway, a Maurice Alexander pass to Darrius Scott gave the Tornadoes a 21-10 lead in the third quarter.

Central battled back, however, as Da'vante Phillips hauled in a 33-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter. Minutes later, a field goal brought Central within one, 21-20.

But the Rocket comeback would fall short, as Clarington, a highly-recruited tight end, came up with the game-saving stop.
