Ashe County hadn't done well against North Surry recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Huskies narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Greyhounds 5-4. For the Huskies, this counts as revenge for the 12-10 victory the Greyhounds walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2025.

Jordan Tibbs was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Tibbs was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs.

In other batting news, Gavin Eller was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. Adam Wagoner was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

The win got Ashe County back to even at 1-1.

Ashe County didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 10-0 loss against Mount Tabor on the 5th. As for North Surry, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 17-10 victory against Alleghany on the 3rd.
