Basketball Recap: Alcona Piles Up the Points Against Tawas Area

Alcona won the last time they faced Tawas Area and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Alcona Tigers breezed past the Tawas Area Braves to the tune of 62-31. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 39-12.

It was another big night for Garrett Somers, who went 6-for-8 en route to 17 points along with six boards and six steals. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last 15 games he's played. Another player making a difference was Evan Borsvold, who went 7-for-12 on his way to 14 points.

Alcona's win bumped their record up to 17-3. As for Tawas Area, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season.

Coming up, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Tigers face off against the Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Tawas Area, they will welcome Beaverton at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Beaverton will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Tawas Area surely won't give up without a fight.
