Baseball Recap: Pulaski County Makes It Five in a Row at Home

Pulaski County had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Model Patriots. The Maroons' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Cal Miller was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Miller was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-2. He also put up two RBI, which were his first of the season.

In other pitching news, Levi Stykes looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits.

Back at the plate, Kade Hargis was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Will Adams also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Pulaski County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Pulaski County's win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average this season. As for Model, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pulaski County will head out to square off against Danville at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Danville will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something Pulaski County surely won't give up without a fight. As for Model, they will venture away from home to take on Rowan County at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Model's pitchers better be ready for this one: Rowan County has averaged an impressive 12.2 runs per game this season.
