Football Preview: Sharpstown Apollos vs. Madison Marlins
Sharpstown is 0-10 against Madison since October of 2014 but things could change on Thursday. The Sharpstown Apollos are taking a road trip to challenge the Madison Marlins at 7:00 p.m. Madison took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Sharpstown, who comes in off a win.
Sharpstown headed into their last match having not scored more than 12 points for three straight, but Austin let them put that streak behind them. Sharpstown really took it to Austin for the full four quarters, racking up a 58-14 win. With the Apollos ahead 38-14 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Meanwhile, a victory for Madison just wasn't in the cards on Saturday as the team wasn't able to take the lead at any point. They had to suffer through a 31-0 loss at the hands of Waltrip. The shutout was out of character for the Marlins seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in September.
Madison wouldn't let Waltrip keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. Madison can thank Danzell Bloodworth and Handsom Dillon for forcing both of them.
Sharpstown's win ended an eight-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-6. As for Madison, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.
Sharpstown was dealt a bruising 61-0 loss at the hands of Madison in their previous matchup back in September of 2023. Can Sharpstown avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
