Softball Recap: Palmview's Winning Streak Snapped at Six Games

It was a good run, but Palmview unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of the Nixon Mustangs by a score of 4-3. The Lobos were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Mustangs earlier this season, when they won 9-6.

Gabriela Garza and Yailyn Trevino stepped up to the plate in a big way. Garza scored a run and stole two bases while going 3-for-4, while Trevino scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Garza has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Marina Rodriguez, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI.

They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: Palmview kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in seven consecutive contests.

Palmview's defeat dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Nixon, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-9-1 record this season.

Palmview will venture away from home to square off against Rio Grande City at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Palmview will need to watch out since Rio Grande City has now posted at least ten runs in their last three games. As for Nixon, they will be playing at home against United South at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games United South has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
