Somerset came tearing into Friday's game with 11 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.6 points), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Floresville Tigers/Jaguars 62-31. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 266th, while the Tigers/Jaguars are ranked 635th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Somerset's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Evan Hernandez, who posted ten points. Hernandez has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last eight times he's played. Another player making a difference was Ignacio Jimenez, who had 12 points.

Somerset smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in December of 2024.

Despite the loss, Floresville still got an impressive performance from Jacob Silva, who scored seven points. Those seven points gave Silva a new career-high.

Somerset pushed their record up to 22-11 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.0 points over those games. As for Floresville, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-17.

Somerset has already played their next match, an 89-25 win against Uvalde on the 11th. As for Floresville, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 58-54 victory against Pearsall on the 11th.
