Baseball Game Preview: Easthampton/Hampshire Eagles vs. Hopkins Academy Golden Hawks

The Easthampton/Hampshire Eagles will head out to challenge the Hopkins Academy Golden Hawks at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Easthampton/Hampshire is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.

Southwick Regional hit Easthampton/Hampshire with a four-run second inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Eagles took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rams.

Jason Sigda and Jake Kostek did some serious damage despite the final result: Sigda went 2-for-3 with four stolen bases and one run, while Kostek got on base in three of his four plate appearances with five stolen bases and one run. Sigda is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played. Ethan Mullaly also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Meanwhile, Hopkins Academy got the win against Amherst-Pelham Regional on Tuesday by a conclusive 14-4. Considering the Golden Hawks have won five contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Hopkins Academy's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-4. As for Easthampton/Hampshire, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-8.

Easthampton/Hampshire might still be hurting after the 8-2 loss they got from Hopkins Academy in their previous meeting two weeks ago. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
