Softball Recap: Newark Victorious

Newark won the last time they faced Somonauk and things went their way on Monday too. The Norsemen came out on top against the Bobcats by a score of 7-3. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Norsemen.

Cayla Pottinger spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits.

At the plate, Newark let Zoey Carlson and Rylie Carlson run wild. Zoey went 4-for-5 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Rylie went 2-for-5 with one home run and two runs. Zoey is on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now got three or more in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Sadie Pottinger, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Newark kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are 10-4 when they post 11 or more hits.

Newark's record is now 12-9. As for Somonauk, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-9-1.

Newark will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Bobcats: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
