Basketball Game Preview: Christ School Greenies vs. Asheville Christian Academy Lions

Christ School is 8-2 against Asheville Christian Academy since January of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Christ School Greenies will square off against the Asheville Christian Academy Lions at 6:30 p.m. One thing working in Christ School's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.

Last Friday, Christ School blew past Legion Collegiate Academy, posting a 72-34 win. The Greenies have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 14 matches by 20 points or more this season.

Christ School relied on the efforts of Madden Collins, who went 8 of 9 on his way to 19 points and six steals, and Dacen Petty, who went 10 for 15 en route to 22 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Collins' evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zymicah Wilkins, who posted 11 points and five boards.

Meanwhile, Asheville Christian Academy had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21.8 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Saturday. They beat the Blues by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 61-52. Given the Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 30th, while the Blues are ranked 100th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Asheville Christian Academy's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-4. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.6 points per game. As for Christ School, their win bumped their record up to 18-1.

Everything came up roses for Christ School against Asheville Christian Academy when the teams last played on January 9th, as the team secured an 85-34 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Christ School since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
