Baseball Recap: Borger Bulldogs vs. Pampa Harvesters
Borger was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the Pampa Harvesters. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Harvesters this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 21-6 back in March.
Lincoln Buchanan was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Buchanan wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Christian Garcia, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. Jesus Martinez also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Borger's loss dropped their record down to 6-12. As for Pampa, their victory bumped their record up to 12-8.
We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Borger will challenge rival Dumas at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Pampa is set to square off against their familiar foe Hereford at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
