Marion is 2-8 against Gresham Community since September of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit  on Tuesday. The Mustangs will square off against the Wildcats at 7:00  p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Marion took  a  three-set  defeat the last time they faced off against Bowler, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Mustangs won by a  set and slipped past the Panthers  3-2.
 It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day Marion got the one that really mattered. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 21-25, 25-19, 16-25,  15-11.

Marion got their  victory on the backs of several key players, but it was  Madeline Wudstrack out in front who  had 15  digs and nine  aces. Wudstrack has been hot, having  posted 12 or more  digs the last five times she's  played.  Sophia Wudstrack was another key player,  getting ten  digs and eight  aces.
 They weren't the only good servers: Marion  was lethal from the service line and  finished the match with 30  aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now  served at least seven  aces in eight consecutive  matchups.
 Fans were treated to a battle of the Wildcats  on Tuesday. Gresham Community had just enough and edged out Northland Lutheran  3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest  win Gresham Community has posted  since September 2nd.
 Marion pushed their record up to 9-4 with the  victory, which was their third straight  at home. As for Gresham Community,  the  win  got them back to even at 7-7.
 Marion came out on top in a nail-biter against Gresham Community in their previous meeting  last Thursday, sneaking past  3-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the  team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
