Recap: Acalanes Dons vs. Las Lomas Knights
The Acalanes Dons's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 72-57 to Las Lomas. While losing is never fun, Acalanes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 469th, while Las Lomas is ranked 214th).
Acalanes lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Gavin Dodge, who scored 15 points along with nine rebounds. Dodge scored a full 26.3% of Acalanes' points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Liam Krackeler, who scored 16 points along with five assists and three steals.
Las Lomas was led to victory by Drew Gozelski and Julian Vaucher. Gozelski scored 14 points, while Vaucher scored 24 points along with five rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Vaucher has scored at least 25% of Las Lomas' points. Dylan Devinney was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Acalanes' defeat was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 3-5. As for Las Lomas, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-1.
Acalanes will take on Valley Christian in a holiday battle at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday at. One thing working in Valley Christian's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season. As for Las Lomas, they will face off against Foothill at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Foothill will be coming into the match with an undefeated record on the line.
