Basketball Recap: Throckmorton Greyhounds vs. Garner Longhorns
Throckmorton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 31st straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 48-26 to the Garner Longhorns. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Greyhounds this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 61-18 on January 10th.
Garner found their leader in sophomore Brayden Martinez, who posted 17 points in addition to seven steals and six boards. Martinez has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 13 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Juluis Crews, who earned five points and three steals.
Throckmorton's defeat dropped their record down to 0-15. As for Garner, with the win, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 15-11.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Throckmorton will square off against Perrin-Whitt at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Perrin-Whitt will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something Throckmorton surely won't give up without a fight. As for Garner, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Newcastle at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Garner has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
