Basketball Recap: Christ Church Episcopal Takes a Loss

Christ Church Episcopal was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were outmatched by the First Baptist School Hurricanes and fell 79-36. While losing is never fun, the Cavaliers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 199th, while the Hurricanes are ranked 19th).

Christ Church Episcopal's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Caroline Johnson, who posted nine points and six steals, and Ava Lanzl, who had seven points. Johnson has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played.

Even though they lost, Christ Church Episcopal was working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Christ Church Episcopal's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for First Baptist School, they pushed their record up to 11-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.

Christ Church Episcopal didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 49-33 defeat against Porter-Gaud on the 21st. As for First Baptist School, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 63-38 win against Olympic on the 27th.
