Softball Recap: Bear River Bruins vs. Galt Warriors
Bear River had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They were the clear victor by a 10-2 margin over the Galt Warriors on Friday. The Bruins have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Warriors, too.
Ana Marin Hemings was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. Hemings was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Taryn Cleek, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Lily Fiddyment, who scored four runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Galt is on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.
Bear River wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 10-2 defeat against Wheatland on the 7th. Galt has also already played their next game (against Rio Linda), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
