Basketball Recap: Courtland's Victory on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Seven

Courtland had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26.7 points) and they went ahead and made it seven on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 57-28 victory over the Chancellor Chargers. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 127th, while the Chargers are ranked 300th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Chancellor lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Daniel Wright, who posted eight points. Xavier Heggie also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Courtland has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a massive bump to their 13-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.8 points per game. As for Chancellor, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season.

Coincidentally, Courtland and Chancellor will both be playing James Monroe the next time they take the court. Chancellor will host James Monroe at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, while Courtland will host them at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
