Baseball Recap: Pomperaug Has No Trouble Against Bunnell

Pomperaug owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Friday. They blew past the Bunnell Bulldogs 8-0. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Not much got past Alex Augustine, who gave up just six hits to keep Bunnell off the board. Augustine also tossed a walk, which is notable because Pomperaug is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 0-6 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Noah Pane, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Andrew Brocksmith, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one triple.

Pomperaug's win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 2-7. As for Bunnell, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-3.

Coming up, Pomperaug will face off against Kolbe-Cathedral at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Bunnell, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Brookfield at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. The Bulldogs will need to watch out since the Bobcats have now posted at least ten runs in their last three games.
