Soccer Recap: Dirigo's Higher State Rank on Full Display on Saturday

After low-scoring totals in their previous three matchup, Dirigo brought some dynamite into their most recent match. They walked away with a 4-2 win over the Wiscasset Wolverines on Saturday. Given Dirigo's advantage in MaxPreps' Maine soccer rankings (they are ranked 15th, while Wiscasset are ranked 76th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Dirigo's record is now 11-1. As for Wiscasset, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Dirigo will host Madison at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Madison will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Dirigo surely won't give up without a fight. As for Wiscasset, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Vinalhaven at 11:00 a.m. on Monday. Wiscasset will be up against Vinalhaven's rather soft defense (which has allowed 3.5 goals per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
