Softball Game Preview: New Canaan Rams vs. Darien Blue Wave

The New Canaan Rams will head out to challenge the Darien Blue Wave at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Darien will be up against a hot New Canaan squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. The Rams' pitchers stepped up to hand McMahon a 17-0 shutout on Tuesday. That looming 17-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Rams yet this season.

Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last matchup, Darien made sure to put some runs up on the board against Bridgeport Central on Saturday. The Blue Wave put the hurt on the Hilltoppers with a sharp 13-0 victory. The Blue Wave haven't had any issues with the Hilltoppers recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Darien pushed their record up to 10-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.2 runs over those games. As for New Canaan, their victory bumped their record up to 9-1.

New Canaan came up short against Darien in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, falling 5-2. Can the Rams avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
