Baseball Recap: West Takes a Loss

West extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping them down to 2-18. They fell 9-4 to the Taylorsville Warriors. If the Panthers were looking for revenge after losing 20-0 to the Warriors when the teams met back in April of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Taplin Everette was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. West is 2-1 when Everette posts two or more runs, but 0-17 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Michael Garcia, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

As for Taylorsville, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 13-7. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games.

On Taylorsville's side, Aiden Wegner looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Wegner has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ryne Lageschulte, who earned two RBI, two runs, and two stolen bases. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Brex Romney, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

While West had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
