Softball Recap: Academy of Notre Dame's Winning Streak Snapped at Five Games

Academy of Notre Dame dropped their record down to 12-5 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Greater Lowell Tech Gryphons, falling 13-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Lancers have suffered against the Gryphons since April 30, 2019.

As for Greater Lowell Tech, their record now sits at 11-7. Considering their hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

For Greater Lowell Tech's part, Morgan Haskell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up 11 Ks.

At the plate, Cora Wilder was a standout: she got on base in three of her five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Hailey Normandie also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Academy of Notre Dame will host Mystic Valley Regional at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Greater Lowell Tech, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Greater Lawrence Tech at 2:00 p.m.
