Basketball Recap: Wilkes Central Takes a Loss

Wilkes Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They took a blow against the North Wilkes Vikings, falling 57-11. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 468th, while the Vikings are ranked seventh).

Haylei Byrd was Wilkes Central's leading scorer, having posted three points. Aleigha Ferguson took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with two assists.

Wilkes Central's loss dropped their record down to 2-17. As for North Wilkes, the victory (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 18-1.

Wilkes Central wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 63-15 defeat against East Surry on the 31st. As for North Wilkes, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 60-31 win against West Wilkes on the 31st.
