Softball Recap: Wesley Chapel Starts Season with Win Against Wiregrass Ranch

Wesley Chapel had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They were the clear victor by a 15-9 margin over the Wiregrass Ranch Bulls on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Wildcats have posted against the Bulls since March 11, 2020.

Eliana Diaz and Alanis Escalante did most of the damage at the plate: Diaz went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs, while Escalante went 2-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Those two runs gave Diaz a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kali Manco, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double.

Looking ahead, Wesley Chapel will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Mitchell at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Wiregrass Ranch, they are taking a road trip to challenge Gulf at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
