Basketball Game Preview: Germantown Red Devils vs. Southwind Jaguars

The Germantown Red Devils will head out on the road to face off against the Southwind Jaguars at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with five defeats in a row, Germantown turned things around against Cordova on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Wolves by a score of 48-37. The score was all tied up 22-22 at the break, but the Red Devils were the better team in the second half.

Meanwhile, Southwind was able to grind out a solid victory over Collierville on Tuesday, taking the game 62-53. Given the Jaguars' advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 23rd, while the Dragons are ranked 129th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Germantown better keep an eye on Ronald Towns. He was instrumental in Southwind's win, going 8 of 15 en route to 25 points and five assists. The dominant performance gave Towns a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kristopher Carrol, who went 5 for 9 on his way to 16 points and six boards.

Southwind pushed their record up to 14-6 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.3 points per game. As for Germantown, they now have a winning record of 12-11.

Germantown came up short against Southwind in their previous meeting on Monday, falling 51-39. Can Germantown avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
