The West Rowan Falcons will venture away from home to take on the Robinson Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. West Rowan is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last five games.
While West Rowan's victory against Carson wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Falcons skirted past the Cougars 11-9. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Falcons have posted since March 7th.
Brant Graham was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. Graham was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Eli Graham, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Gaige Scruggs was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Robinson hadn't done well against Lake Norman Charter recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Bulldogs had just enough and edged out the Knights 5-3.
Aury Greenfield was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-5. Another player making a difference was Jake Barbee, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.
West Rowan pushed their record up to 14-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Robinson, their record is now 8-9.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. West Rowan has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Robinson struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 9.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
West Rowan came out on top in a nail-biter against Robinson in their previous matchup back in March, sneaking past 4-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Falcons since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
