Baseball Recap: Brother Rice Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Brother Rice extended their winning streak to four on Monday, bumping their season record up to 30-2 in the process. They were the clear victors by a 9-2 margin over the Marist RedHawks. The Crusaders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 games by six runs or more this season.

Tadgh Callaghan looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jackson Natanek, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Brady Cunningham was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Brother Rice was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .438. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .320 or higher in four consecutive matches.

As for Marist, their loss dropped their record down to 19-13. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat they have suffered since April 16th.

On Marist's side, Collin Lawlor was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. What's more, Lawlor gave up only three hits, the fewest he's had since back in April.

On the hitting side, Marist saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carter Pass, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

Brother Rice does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Marist, they will take on Lyons in a tournament on Wednesday.
