Recap: Stringer Red Devils vs. Mount Olive Pirates
The Stringer Red Devils''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They were outmatched by Mount Olive at home and fell 42-6. Stringer was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Mount Olive apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2020.
Despite the loss, Stringer still got an impressive performance from Ashton Cook, who rushed for 57 yards and a touchdown on only six carries. Cook was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 50 yards.
Mount Olive was led to victory by Malachi Mickel and Jarrius Mickell. Mickel rushed for 96 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 carries, while Mickell rushed for 98 yards and two touchdowns on only five carries. Mickel hasn't dropped below sixsolo tackles for eight straight games. Kemauri McNair was another key contributor, throwing for 52 yards and two touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes.
Stringer's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Mount Olive, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-7.
Stringer will take on Simmons at 7:00 p.m. on November 3rd. Simmons knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven contests -- so hopefully Stringer likes a good challenge. Mount Olive does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
