Morton came tearing into Thursday's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 3-0 win over the LaSalle-Peru Cavaliers. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Potters also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2023.

Morton got a great performance from Matt Sander as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave Sander a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Morton saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Collin Burns, who scored a run while going 2-for-2.

Morton's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-5. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for LaSalle-Peru, their loss dropped their record down to 6-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Morton will host Galesburg at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for LaSalle-Peru, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Sterling at 10:00 a.m.
