Basketball Recap: Bloomington South's Higher State Rank on Full Display on Tuesday

Bloomington South got their first taste of in-conference action this week and they started things off strong. They took down the Bloomington North Cougars 65-48 on Tuesday. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 95th, while the Cougars are ranked 258th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

When it comes to explaining why Bloomington North lost, don't look at Caleb Fishel. Despite the final result, he went 5 for 12 on his way to 17 points and three steals. The dominant performance gave Fishel a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ka'Mareon Washington, who posted eight points.

Bloomington South has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season. As for Bloomington North, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-9.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games.
