Basketball Recap: Sherburne-Earlville Takes a Loss

Sherburne-Earlville suffered their biggest defeat since February 6, 2024 on Friday. 2025 welcomed they with a 68-45 loss courtesy of the Cooperstown Hawkeyes. While losing is never fun, the Marauders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 591st, while the Hawkeyes are ranked 58th).

Miles Nelen was his usual excellent self, going 9 for 22 on his way to 26 points for Cooperstown. Nelen has been hot, having posted 19 or more points the last five times he's played. Jackson Crisman was another key player, going 6 of 10 on his way to 14 points and five rebounds.

Sherburne-Earlville's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Cooperstown, their victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-0.

Sherburne-Earlville wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 66-45 defeat against Little Falls on the 7th. As for Cooperstown, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 72-22 win against Westmoreland on the 7th.
