Soccer Recap: Lafayette Takes a Loss

Lafayette entered their matchup against Southside on Monday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Lafayette Lions fell just short of the Southside Sharks by a score of 1-0. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Lions came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana soccer rankings (they are ranked 20th, while the Sharks are ranked 69th).

Lafayette's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 1-1-2 and their overall record down to 8-5-6. As for Southside, their victory bumped their record up to 5-10-2.

While Lafayette had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
