Dysart picks up eighth straight win on the road

Recap: Dysart Demons vs. Cortez Colts

The Dysart Demons came tearing into Tuesday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They took down Cortez 74-56. Given Dysart's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 40th, while Cortez is ranked 165th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Dysart got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Nate Morales out in front who scored 20 points along with six assists and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kye Brown, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and five assists.

Despite the loss, Cortez still got an impressive performance from Devan Fowler, who scored 25 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Fowler is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last six games he's played. Nygel Lindsey was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with nine rebounds.

Dysart's victory was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.8 points per game. As for Cortez, they now have a losing record at 8-9.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Dysart will take on Coronado at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Coronado will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for Cortez, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Apache Junction at 5:30 p.m. on January 18th. Apache Junction is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.
