Basketball Recap: Emery/Weiner vs. Second Baptist Eagles
Emery/Weiner lost against Second Baptist last Thursday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Emery/Weiner took a blow against the Second Baptist Eagles, falling 85-30. While losing is never fun, Emery/Weiner can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1082nd, while Second Baptist is ranked 48th).
Despite the loss, Emery/Weiner still got an impressive performance from Jordan Gorewitz, who posted seven points. Harper Scheinman was another key player, putting up five points.
Leading Second Baptist to victory were Reese Alston and Shia Francis. Alston went 9-for-14 on his way to 21 points along with five rebounds and three steals, while Francis made all 8 shots he took to post 16 points. Alston is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last 24 games he's played. Emery/Weiner is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-15. As for Second Baptist, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 21 of their last 22 games, which provided a nice bump to their 29-2 record this season.
Emery/Weiner wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 41-35 victory against Lutheran South Academy on the 12th. As for Second Baptist, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 64-58 loss against Legacy School of Sport Sciences on the 11th.
